Mission:
The mission of the Booster Club is to support, promote and coordinate LHS activities; to promote cooperation and understanding between the school, families, and community; to promote school spirit; and to act in an advisory capacity to the administration and individual sports and activities at LHS.

What the Booster Club does:
The Lincoln High School Booster Club is comprised of thirty activities. The activities range from academics to athletics to the fine arts. A complete listing of all of the activities may be found on the booster club’s website.

Each activity is allowed to have four voting representatives. It is suggested that each grade level be represented, i.e., freshmen, sophomores, juniors and seniors. The senior representative should be responsible for soliciting representatives for the other classes and inform the booster club secretary who those people are and how to contact them.

Of the thirty activities that are part of the booster club, twenty-six are school-sponsored activities and at the present time, four are non-school sponsored activities. A non-school sponsored activity would be one that does not receive any funding from the Sioux Falls School District; however, they do compete under the school’s name and are required to follow school policy and procedures.

The booster club primarily receives its funding from two sources: the President’s Bowl and from booster club memberships. (What we refer to as the Red, White and Blue Club).

The President’s Bowl is a cooperative effort between the Sioux Falls Public High Schools. They raise money by holding the President’s Bowl Football game; the Presidents Bowl Golf outing; a boys’ basketball tournament; and a girls’ basketball tournament.

The three public high schools are expected to support the President’s Bowl activities by providing labor to work at events; donate goods and services that can be sold at concession stands; or by soliciting ad sales for programs, to name a few.

The proceeds from the President’s Bowl events are divided equally between the three high schools. The majority of the proceeds are distributed in November or December to the schools.

A supporter of the booster club activities may join the Red, White and Blue Club. There are a number of different membership levels. A contribution of $125.00 allows the donor to receive two tickets to all activities. Membership in the Cliff Avenue Club, which is for contributions of $500.00 or more, allows the donor to receive two or more tickets to all activities, plus the donor may designate an activity or activities to receive the net amount of the donation. The net amount is determined by subtracting the number of athletic tickets they receive, (which are valued at twenty five dollars each), from the amount contributed.

Each individual activity may fundraise independently of the booster club. All fundraising activities, however, must be approved by the vice principal for activities.

The executive board of the booster club will meet as soon as possible after the funds from the President’s Bowl have been distributed in order to allocate money to the different activities. The first ten thousand dollars of the combined President’s Bowl allocation and booster club membership receipts will be held in the booster club’s “General Club Account”. The remainder of the proceeds will be allocated to each of the activities.

The ten thousand dollars reserved in the booster club’s general account will be held for special requests or needs that may arise during the year. Applications from activities to receive a special allocation may be made at any time during the calendar year. The requests will be presented to the booster club as a whole when they are received; however, the requests will only be voted upon in October and March, so that all activities will be given equal consideration.

If a request is made by an activity for a special allocation and there appears to be sufficient funds in that activity’s account to pay for the requested item, the activity should be prepared to disclose how they intend to utilize the funds that presently exist in the account.

If an emergency arises for which funds from the general account are needed, the booster club may vote to allocate those monies, as they are needed.

In the event that there are still funds in the booster club general account at the end of the school year, those funds may be allocated to the activities or they may be held for the next year, depending upon the wishes of the members of the booster club.

During the month of May, each activity should submit a plan that describes how that activity utilized the funds that were at its disposal during the year and what booster club activities its supporters volunteered for during the preceding year. In the event the group did not fully spend the funds that were at its disposal the plan should state what the intentions are for the use of the funds. The activity should also state what its estimated needs are for the upcoming year.

This is not intended to represent a line item budget. It is an opportunity to make sure that the executive committee makes informed decisions and suggestions to the general membership.

A format for the activities to use will be on the booster club’s web site.

This is a brief synopsis of the Lincoln High School Booster Club’s process for obtaining and dispersing funds to the activities. There are many other items and issues that come up for discussion during the year. Your presence and involvement is welcomed at each and every meeting. It is the desire of everyone serving on the booster club to make Lincoln High School the best that it can be for our daughters, sons, teachers, administrators, and staff.
